Once again, we’ve all been caught on the hop with unpredictable weather. Last year we saw a record 40º in July, but this year just seemed to rain! Maybe we are a little more weather conscious than most – but then, we’re a working farm! However, whatever the weather, the nation’s obsession with gardening goes on unabated, and here at Pecks Farm Shop, we stock a range of composts, grow bags and decorative bark for all you keen home horticulturists. You’ll find them as you enter the barn to pick up your fresh fruit and vegetables.

4 things to do in the garden at this time of year
1. Water and deadhead your pots and hanging baskets regularly to keep them flowering for as long as possible – add tomato feed fortnightly
2. Keep an eye out for seeds to be collected as they ripen and dry, from plants such as, sweet peas, love-in-a-mist, aquilegias and lupins
3. Get ahead for next year, by sowing your hardy annuals in sunny spots to provide early colour next summer.
4. Prune your lavendar, hebes, rambling rose and wysteria for better flowering next year
